Resume – Frank Papamichalakis
Frank graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering in 1988. Whilst undertaking his engineering studies he worked as a trainee engineer at CSR Gyprock, Boral Scaffolding and NSW Department Of Main Roads. After a short time at CSR following graduation, he started with Sydney based patent attorney firm Arthur S Cave & Co in 1988, primarily working in the field of mechanical patents, and commencing his intellectual property studies.
Frank joined Bishop Technology Group (Bishop) in 1994 (then known as A.E. Bishop & Associates Pty Ltd) as the Intellectual Property Officer. He assisted that company in its establishment of an in-house corporate patent department capable of managing its own patent portfolio. This included the independent preparation and filing of patent applications, and instructing overseas patent attorneys and agents in various countries in relation to patent filings and prosecution. When Frank left Bishop to return to the patent attorney profession, he remained as an IP consultant to Bishop for some 12 years.
Upon leaving Bishop, Frank gained considerable experience, in other areas of intellectual property including searching, filing and prosecuting trade mark applications. Since that time Frank has assisted large, medium and small sized clients in all aspects of intellectual property, including opposition and infringement matters.
Immediately prior to setting up Pappas IP in 2007, Frank was the head of the patent department of Hodgkinson McInnes Pappas for more than three years.
